Premji Celebrates His Birthday

Yesterday marked the birthday of actor/musician Premji Amaren. Premji was born into a family of musicians, with his father being Gangai Amaren, his uncle Ilaiyaraaja, brother Venkat Prabhu and cousins Yuvan Shankar Raja, Karthik Raja and Bhavatharini.

He started his career as an assistant to his cousin Yuvan Shankar Raja in the music industry. From a young age, the actor had always had an interest in music, especially the RnB and hip-hop genres which lead to him rapping on tracks for Yuvan and other music directors.

One of the most remembered tracks that had Premji rapping was the song "Kannum Kannum" from the film "Thirupachi" which had the famous line "Oh My Kaduvuley!". From there on, he was a regular rapper for Yuvan, Vidhyasagar and Mani Sharma to name a few.

Premji made his debut as a music director with the Tamil film "Thunichal" and went to compose songs for Tamil films Nenjathey Killadhey, Thozha, Adhe Neram Adhe Idam as well as Telugu film "Kasko" and Kannada film "Nannusire". He also worked on the remix of Yuvan’s "Vilayadu Mankatha."

He ventured into acting by playing Nayanthara’s friend in "Vallavan", and then becoming a regular character in all of his brother Venkat Prabhu’s films, as well other films such as "Santhosh Subramaniam" "Sarvam," and the upcoming release "Settai".

Yesterday he celebrated his birthday, and shared on Twitter that he was feeling blessed after having visited 5 "big amazing powerful" temples over the past few days. He shared snapshots of his temple visits on the image-sharing site Instagram, and yesterday took the time to reply to his birthday wishes on Twitter whenever he had the chance.

The entire team at Thamarai.com would like to send Premji Amaren our belated birthday wishes, and wish him success for his upcoming projects!
