Meet Seven inspirational British Tamil Female Entrepreneurs at #WhatsHerStory

This year’s International Women’s Day will be given a Tamil twist at the London edition of #WhatsHerStory presented by British Tamil Entrepreneurs and supported by Thamarai.com.

After the success of the first-ever #WhatsHerStory in Toronto in association with TamilCulture, the event’s founder Koby Yogeratnam hosts 7 Tamil Female Entrepreneurs from various industries during a panel discussion covering important thought proving topics.

The Panel

Suba Umathevan has a Masters’ in International Affairs and International Law and always had a fascination for human rights – particularly children and women’s rights. She currently is Deputy National Director and Head of Major Partnerships at Plan International Switzerland. As her side hustle, she consults for social innovation start-ups and hosts her own productions, stage and TV shows.

Dr. Geetha Venkat is CEO and founder of the famed, Harley Street Fertility clinic. She has more than twenty years of experience in various fertility clinics around Harley Street. Her focus has been to tailor treatments to the needs of her patients while incorporating the latest developments in the discipline. Dr Venkat presents her work regularly in conferences and has published articles in many peer reviewed journals. She offers advice to the community on fertility matters in television and radio programs.

Dr. Soozana Pvan holds a PhD in Kingston University under the title “Growth factor receptors, cancer stem cells and drug resistance antigens: their roles in the progression of ovarian cancer and response to therapeutics”. She is also a famed international freelance photographer for 7 years under the name of “Soozana Pvan Photography”.

Jumani Yogarajah is a self-employed hair and makeup artist for five years. She has two years’ retail experience in beauty and cosmetics working for well-known brands such as Tom Ford, Estée Lauder, MAC and everything under the Lauder group. Recently, she has taken up the position of spokesperson for ANBU. She has a keen interest in promoting childhood trauma and abuse in the Tamil community with a passion for starting projects associated with helping communities in Sri Lanka who are most vulnerable.

Trisha Selva is a leading partner at KST Accountants. In 2009 she founded and is Chairperson for Serendip Childrens home. Raising £100,000 each year for the charity, Serendip is non-profit organisation that strive towards giving orphaned children of Jaffna, Sri Lanka a loving and nurturing home, addressing their immediate needs of food and shelter, and their progressive needs for education, social support and eventually, work and independence. Serendip also helps to run fine art centres, helping special needs children and children with terminal illnesses.

Subee Sudharshan is the founder of world renowned Casipillai Designer Collection. Founded in 2006, Casipillai Designer Collection exclusively sell Handloom Kanchipuram Designer Sarees of her own designs as well as providing Bespoke Bridal Service. Most recently she has become part of the founding team behind Tamil Women in Business.

Kavino Nagulendran, Born in Sri Lanka, grew up in Germany, moved to London at the age of 11. She completed her degree in Digital Media and started her own Media company, working with Tamil industries celebrated artists including Rajnikanth, Nayanthara, Simbu to name a few. She has attained a respectable name in the world of Photography producing beauty, grace and strength in her photography. Kavino is also the co-founder of Tamil Women in Business.
