A few weeks ago, we shared a video of Stanford’s South Asian a capella group "Raagapella" covering "Oru Maalai" from Tamil film "Ghajini".
Raagapella, however, aren’t the only South Asian a capella group on that side of the ocean…in fact there are 40 South Asian a capella teams around the USA!
CollegeDesis have got seven of these teams to feature on a compilation album that was released earlier this month. Entitled "Best of CollegeDesis A Capella", the album features Stanford’s Raagapella, Northwestern University’s Brown Sugar, Hum A Capella from the University of Texas, Georgia Tech’s Taal Tadka, Case Western Reserve University’s Dhamakapella, Michigan’s Maize Mirchi and Chai-Town from the University of Illinois.
The album not only provides a platform for these talented musical groups, but acts as a fundraiser – upon purchasing the album, you can choose from one of over 500 South Asian student organisations in the US, and your chosen organisation will receive 30% of the sale price!
