The UK has been the starting block for many talented Tamil personalities launching their careers in the entertainment industry. Stars including female rapper M.I.A, R&B singer Arjun, TV presenter Tim Kash, music producer Charles Bosco and pop sensation Siva Kaneswaran were raised in the UK and are currently thriving in their forte internationally. Let’s add another name to the list: Sai Ruban aka Mc Sai is one of the youngest Tamil rappers on the scene. Born in Jaffna, Sai moved to the UK in 1999 after a brief stay in Germany. Here he collaborated with other artistes on his first album at the tender age of 16. The fire in his belly and his hard hitting lyrics relating to the struggle of Tamil civilians in Sri Lanka raised his profile amongst the Tamil youth in the diaspora.
Thamarai.com has proudly sponsored MC Sai’s latest music video. Titled Kanni Pennea featuring Archana & Narvinidery, it is the first single from the highly anticipated album “Simmasanam – The Throne,” which is to be released in July 2012. The video has been filmed by S.Santhan from Eternal Icon and directed by Nav “The Designer.” The team behind Mc Sai are Rebel Star Records, who explained how the album will cover topics including Tamil culture in the modern day, our forgotten kings and why we should be proud to be Tamil. Look out for guest appearences by Tamil comedian Kutti Hari & street dancer’s Public Enemies.
MCSai is currently in Canada adding the final touches to his album, produced by Steve Cliff. The album is an international production featuring some of the biggest Tamil artistes in the independent & cinema industry including Yogi B, Rabbit Mac & Stylomannavan from Malaysia, Haricharan from India and Dinesh K from Sri Lanka. Look out for Simmasanam which drops in July. Say no to piracy & please support our young talent by purchasing a legal copy!
