Our ‘ Tamil Track of the Week’ is from the Kollywood film “Yennamo Yedho” starring Gautham Karthik, who recently starred in Mani Ratnam’s “Kadal.”

Music is scored by D. Imman who has been having a successful run in Kollywood with back to back hits since the release of “Kumki.”

The song I have chosen is called “Pudhiya Ulagai” sung by Vaikom Vijayalaksmi, a blind singer with a unique voice and an amazing talent on the South Indian veena.

The song starts with a gentle soothing strum, accompanied by Vijayalakshmi’s carassing voice creates a timeless melody. Building to a chilled folk rhythm with a brief segment by Vijayalakshmi on the Gayathri Veena, the 3 minute long song will most certainly be on repeat. Hats off to D. Imman for bringing another beautiful track to us. We hope to hear more of Vijayalakshmi’s voice in the near future.
