Throwback Thursday #17

Today we celebrate singer-turned-music-director Vijay Prakash’s birthday. The Mysore-born singer who has given hits in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi recently made his debut as music director with "Andhar Bahar", a Kannada action film.

The singer has worked with nearly all the music directors such as the Maestro Ilaiyaraaja, A. R. Rahman, Harris Jayaraj, Yuvan Shankar Raja to name a few. He has churned out hits such as "Hosanna" from the musical hit film "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya", "Om Sivoham" from "Naan Kadavul", "Kadhal Annukal" from "Endhiran"  as well as "Asku Laska" from "Nanban".

As today’s Throwback Thursday, I’ve decided to choose a song from a time when Vijay Prakash was not recognised as much as he is now. The song I have chosen is "Poovaasam Purrapadam" from Kamal Hassan and Madhavan starter "Anbe Sivam".

This is one of his first Tamil tracks under the composition of Vidhyasagar, with his second Tamil track for the film "New" composed by A. R. Rahman.

All the team from Thamarai.com would like to wish Vijay Prakash a very Happy Birthday!
