This week’s track of the week is from a Malayalam flick called "I Love Me". The film stars Malayalam actors Asif Ali, Unni Mukundan (who made is debut acting in Tamil film "Seedan" opposite Dhanush) and actress Isha Talwar who will be acting in the remake of Super Star Rajinikanth’s yesteryear hit film "Thillu Mullu" this year.
The music has been composed by Mollywood’s leading music director Deepak Dev, who already has a list of hits under his belt, including Puthiya Mukham and Udayananu Tharam.
The song I have chosen is called "Maazhayaayi Nee Pozhiyumo" sung by Benny Dayal who is in fact a Malayali himself.
Deepak Dev has gone for a more acoustic feel to the track using guitars, piano and a mix of bongos and drums. Starting off with a slow salsa style rhythm before moving on to a slow rock beat, the track is melodious and soothing. Benny Dayal has sung the song with ease and is definitely the right choice for this number. The singer brings a lot of soul to the track, in a similar way to his performance in "Omana Penne" from Tamil film "Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya".
Language is no barriers to musicians and we feel it should not be to music listeners. Have a listen to the track and leave a comment below telling us what you think.
