Despite being labeled a conservative city by cynics, Chennai is truly the cultural capital of our Country. Carnatic music is truly the music of our land and Chennaites celebrate it in true spirit and form. Carnatic music represents the rich culture and tradition of the land.
Radio One’s 'One Chennai One Music - Carnatic Nite' on the 9th of December, was truly a mesmerizing exravaganza, a musical nite which will be cherished by every ardent carnatic lover thanks to the soulful performance by the ever versatile Kalaimamani Dr. Nithyasree. One Chennai One Music gave it’s perfect ode to the Margazhi music festival. Dr. Nihyasree was as always at her best with every rendition garnering a lot of appreciation from the audience. We are extremely glad and proud at the kind of response we have received from the audience. Dr. Nithyasree has once again proved that she is indeed the nightingale of South India. Needless to say that One Chennai One Music kick started Marghazi in true carnatic style”, says Mr.Martin King.
Radio one understands the power of music and has pioneered the concept of One Chennai One Music where different genres of music and it’s artists are promoted, a one of a kind initiative in Tamil Nadu radio. Through their station and a series of events, they provide a platform for artistes creating and performing indepedent-non film music. One Chennai One Music has already given carnatic enthusiasts in Chennai a lot to cherish with the Carnatic Nite model where the best performing artists have left a mark with the audience. Not just promoting carnatic music on Radio One but making it a celebration which every Chennaite will truly cherish is their objective.
The Carnatic Nite model has been very well received by the listeners and supporters”, says Mr. Martin king, Station Director - Radio One Chennai. Radio One also takes this opportunity to thank its title sponsor of the event Green Tree Homes, and its associate sponsors Woodpecker Furniture, Tanishq JewelLery, Billroth Hospitals and Marutham Group without whose support it would not have been possible.
