Trisha with Superstar?
Though an official announcement is yet to be made, the industry is buzzing with the news that actress Trisha is being considered for the lead role in Rajinikanth’s next film. The venture is an animated drama, produced by Superstar’s daughter – Soundarya Ashwin. Originally entitled "Sultan", the name was then changed to "Hara", and now is said to be renamed as "Rana"…for now. The film is expected to be made in 4 languages – Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and English – and award-winning composer A. R. Rahman is scoring the soundtrack.

Endhiran’s Awards
Superstar Rajinikanth’s blockbuster "Endhiran" (Robot in Hindi) won in two categories at the Star Screen Awards this year. One was for special effects and the other for the latest technology used. The film stars Rajinikanth and the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, and was a smash hit in Tamil, Hindi and Telugu.

Chiyaan goes trilingual
Chiyaan Vikram, who recently starred in Mani Ratnam’s Raavanan (Raavan in Hindi), is teaming up with director Susi Ganesan for his next venture. Vikram and Susi Ganesan have previously worked together on Kandhasamy (Mallana in Telugu). The film is to be made in Hindi, and Tamil and Telugu versions will be released as well. The yet-to-be-named film is to be an action flick with music scored by Yuvan Shankar Raja.

Vijayakumar’s Illness
Vijayakumar, father of actor Arun Vijay, was taken to hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest last week. Actor Vijayakumar is a well-known actor, who starred in celebrated films such as Mani Ratnam’s Agni Natchathiram back in the 80s, and more recently in films such as Chandramukhi, Goa and Singam. The actor is currently embroiled in a very public family tiff involving his daughter Vanitha. Superstar Rajinikanth visited the actor in hospital. Vijayakumar is said to be getting better, and all of us at Thamarai wish him a speedy recovery.
