London has been buzzing with the vibes of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus, Raavan. Starring Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, alongside stars like Prithviraj and Priya Mani. The film has been made as a bi-lingual, in Tamil and then Hindi and it is dubbed as Villain, in Telugu. The red carpet was held at the prestigious BFI, at the South Bank of London, where stars like Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, joined by Shah Rukh Khan and his family, and Abhishek’s sister and family, the Nanda’s. The likes of Anu Hasan (Coffee with Anu), Sunanda Murali Manohar, Aishwarya’s parents and Gurinder Chadha, were also present, alongside Mani Ratnam’s eminent actress/producer wife, Suhasini Mani Ratnam.
Vikram and Prithviraj, who looked extremely dapper, charmed the crowds and press alike and Mani Ratnam was his humble and eloquent self. Aishwarya Rai looked stunning in a sari and was by the side of husband Abhishek throughout, while graciously greeting all her nearest and dearest, including her in-laws Jaya and Amitabh, who were beaming with pride and joy. While AR Rahman was not present, due to his world tour, his music did the talking in this film, which was appreciated by critics and fans alike, who came out very pleased with the stunning visuals by Santosh Sivan and V Manikandan.
