English Vinglish goes even more global!

Actress Sridevi’s comeback movie "English Vinglish" (EV) became a hit when it was released in 2012, and now it is set to rake in more at the box office as it is being released across China, Hong Kong and Macau.

The film released in October last year in both Hindi and Tamil, along with a dubbed Telugu version. Telling the story of a housewife who tries to learn English to gain respect from her husband and daughter who tease her for not understand the language, EV also starred French actor Mehdi Nebbou and Priya Anand, who is a familiar face to Tamil and Telugu film-watchers. Amitabh Bachchan made a special appearance in the Hindi version, whilst actor Ajith Kumar did the same in the Tamil.

The film is out at seven screens in Hong Kong, with Cantonese subtitles. With 29 shows a day, EV has received the widest opening of any Indian film!
