Natalie Di Luccio is an Italian singer from Toronto who crossed over into Bollywood when she recorded with playback singer Sonu Nigam in India in 2009, for a fusion album. She also worked with him on his Michael Jackson tribute track, and the following year, began posting covers of Hindi songs on YouTube – the first of which has clocked up over 1 million views! Check it out below:
She has since sung for a number of Bollywood projects including the song "Aadha Ishq" from "Band Baaja Baarat", and she has also lent her voice to numerous ad jingles in India. As if that’s not exciting enough for any singer, Natalie was then spotted by the world-renowned musician AR Rahman, and she joined him on stage at four concerts across India in 2011-2012!
Earlier today, Natalie posted on her social network profiles saying "Sincere thank you to Mr. AR Rahman and Mr. Mani Ratnam. Wonderful time recording the Italian version of Anbin Vaasale for the background score of Kadal. Something a little different than most of you have heard from me."
Whilst this is not the first time Natalie has worked with AR Rahman, this is the first work she has done for a Tamil film. Have a listen to the Italian reprise of the beautiful "Anbin Vaasale" below:
