A.R. Rahman’s Tamil hit Balleilakka performed by National Youth Choirs of Great Britain and Milapfest

A.R. Rahman’s 2007 Tamil hit ‘Balleilakka’ from the Kollywood blockbuster ‘Sivaji: The Boss’ has been enthusiastically adopted by choirs worldwide through this arrangement for Earthsongs by Ethan Sperry. The latest, a vibrant music video featuring the National Youth Training Choir of Great Britain & the Indian percussion ensemble TARANG, also from the UK.

With splashes of colour and Bollywood inspired choreography, the video serves as an introduction to a collaboration between the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain & Milapfest. The four year project celebrating the amazing sound and vitality of South Asian choral music begins next year.

Milapfest, an Indian Arts Development Trust, is the organisation behind TARANG. The members of TARANG, a large contingent from the British Tamil community, are all semi-professional and professional emerging musicians living in the UK. The shared goal of the ensemble is the dissemination and development of Indian music in the UK and internationally.
