Arjun says its time to ‘Take it Back!’

British R&B singer ‘Arjun’ aka Arjun Coomaraswamy is ready to launch his mainstream single. Titled ‘Take it back’ the song is a tribute to when R&B ruled the radio waves and dancefloor. The single drops names of popular R&B artists & lines from their songs released during the mid 90s & early noughties.

In early 2012 Arjun was recognised by MTV as one of UK’s top 10 unsigned singers. This accolade however was overshadowed by the immense response to a rework he did in his bedroom for a popular Tamil film song called ‘Why this Kolaveri di’ which was going viral. His rework also went viral & received a cool 9 million views. From then Arjun was successfully fusing his English R&B vibe with some of South Asia’s biggest hits. This has helped Arjun amass over 20 million youtube views and over 170,000 dedicated fans from across the globe.

The new single see’s Arjun take a moment to celebrate his true love, Old Skool R&B.

Arjun started penning the lyrics to ‘Take it Back’ in May 2012 just before his tour of the US & Canada, where he performed an edgier version he had produced. The response from his live performances encouraged the young singer & music producer to hit the studio to finish off the song & shoot a music video. This alongside his international tours and production work has kept Arjun extremely busy for the past year.

Timing couldn’t be better for the single’s release as many leading American & British R&B singers who are tiring of the electronic dance music scene are slowly shifting back to their soulful roots!

The single has been produced by Arjun & Marcus Jay and is set to release in a few weeks. With this momentum plus the positive feedback from DJ’s such as BBC 1xtra’s CJ Beatz, Radio 1’s Nihal, along with SBTV’s founder Jamal Edwards, many are confident the single will do well and hopefully spark a movement!
