Amitabh and DiCaprio

Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan is all set to venture into Hollywood for an adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald‘s classic novel "The Great Gatsby". Big B will be acting alongside Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio, who will play the title character, Jay Gatsby.
Set in the era following the First World War, the plot revolves around Nick Carraway (who will be played by Spiderman star Tobey Maguire) who moves to New York during the "roaring 20s", where he experiences the love, loss and lies that consume the world of the super-rich. Academy Award-nominee Carey Mulligan stars as Daisy Buchanan, while Isla Fisher (Wedding Crashers, Confessions of a Shopaholic), Joel Edgerton (Smokin’ Aces) and Jason Clarke (from the TV series Brotherhood) also have key roles. The Bollywood megastar will be playing Meyer Wolfsheim, a gambler who is said to have fixed the result of the Major League Baseball World Series.
Directing the $125 million 3D adaptation will be Baz Luhrmann who was behind Moulin Rouge! and Australia. This will be the second time DiCaprio has starred in a Luhrmann direction, with the first being William Shakespeare’s Romeo + Juliet in 1996. Despite the fact that the book itself is set in the USA, Luhrmann has opted to film in his native country of Australia. No dates have yet been confirmed regarding this adaptation, which is a big first for the talented Big B!
