Shankar’s unusual filming spot
The Endhiran team have been shooting at some exotic locales for certain scenes, especially songs. But the latest news is that the team were recently seen in a garbage dumping yard in Chennai. What on earth would our Super Star be doing there, one wonders?
Well to clear any doubts, the Super Star Rajinikanth was not present at the spot, but the villain of the film and other actors were seen at the Perungudi dumping yard.
Endhiran, which is directed by Shankar (Anniyan, Sivaji) is a big budget film that also stars the beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as his lady love. Music is taken care by the Mozart of Madras AR Rahman.

CM pens for Kamal Haasan
Yavarum Kelir is the upcoming film by ace director KS Ravikumar (Padayappa, Dasavatharam and Aadhavan). This big project will star South India’s top actors Padmashri Dr Kamal Haasan, chocolate boy Madhavan and the stunning actress Trisha.
Recently, the director had shown Kamal Haasan lyrics to an important song in the film and one hears that the actor was amazed by the lyrics. When questioned as to who wrote the lyrics, the director had surprised the actor by stating that the song was penned by the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, ‘Kalaignar’ M Karunanidhi, who is well known for his prowess with words.
The lucky music director to compose the song to these wonderful lyrics is the young Devi Sri Prasad (Villu, Kutty).
Look out for this romantic comedy coming to a screen near you.

Stunt Master Arjun
Action King Arjun has now become ‘stunt master’ Arjun. But do not worry as this is not a full-time commitment. This will be a one off for a Kannada movie titled “Athuri.” The reason the macho actor has taken this new avatar is because the film stars his relative Dhuruva Kumar in the lead role.
Initially Arjun was to launch Dhuruva under his home productions, but since the script was already finalised for “Athuri,” Arjun insisted Dhruruva took that as his film first, especially since the script was gripping and he didn’t want him to lose the opportunity.
Meanwhile the Action King is awaits for a couple of releases such as Vande Matharam with Malayalam Super Star Mammootty and Sneha; Vallaikottai with Haripriya; a sequel to his previous hit Jai Hind; Maasi and Mei Kaan.

Asin back in Tamil!
With Sura doing brisk business around the world, Ilayathalapathy Vijay is already halfway shooting with his 51st film, Kavalkaaran. The movie brings the cute actress Asin back to Kollywood after a long gap, where she worked in Bollywood in Ghajini and London Dreams. The movie is a remake of Malayalam hit Bodyguard, which was directed by Siddique (Friends, Sadhu Miranda, Engal Anna). The very same director is in charge of this Tamil version.
Rumours had it that Asin bid farewell to South Indian Cinema but the actress had made it clear she would act in Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam films, but only if her role plays a big part in the script.
Initially Asin was supposed to play the role in the Malayalam version but due to lack of dates, the role went to Nayanthara. But now Asin has got a second chance. With hits like Sivakasi and Pokkiri, there’s no doubt the Vijay-Asin combo will rock the theatres.

Housefull is a re-make of a Kamal favourite
With Akshay Kumar’s box-office draw, especially with comedies being strong indeed, the star studded Housefull (with leading ladies Lara Datta, who was in Arasatchi, the gorgeous Deepika Padukone and Ghajini girl Jiah Khan) is number 10 in the UK box office chart.
While that is no surprise, upon closer examination, the Kamal Haasan-Prabhu Deva-Rambha starrer, the comical Kadhala Kadhala seems to be very similar to Housefull. The Tamil version clocked over 150 days in full-houses in Tamil Nadu and Hindi films having so many Southern remakes, the comparison between the two films was apparent.
The basic plot of Kadhala Kadhala is about two friends and their girlfriends – both have to switch partners in order to please their Parents assumptions. The story forms as a comedy of errors, with many comical twists and turns.
Sathyaraj’s Asathal became Akshay Kumar’s Heyy Baby, that too, a re-make of the Hollywood film, Three Men and a Baby. Sajid Khan, the brother of choreographer/director, Farah Khan, is responsible for both remakes.
It seems that Akshay Kumar likes Southern movies and is inspired to sign scripts like that of Kambakkht Ishq, which was a remake of Pammal K. Sambandam, with Kamal Haasan and Simran. We look forward to seeing him romance Trisha in Khatta Meeta, by Priyadarshan (Kanchivaram).
